Overnight storms leave many without power in Charlotte area Hundreds without power after storms roll through Charlotte area By WBTV Web Staff | January 26, 2021 at 5:25 AM EST - Updated January 26 at 10:59 AM CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Heavy rain and thunderstorms blew through the Charlotte area overnight, leaving around 2,000 people without power Tuesday morning. The number of customers impacted by 11 a.m. was just close to 100. Duke Energy says “extreme weather” left at least 1,400 people without power in the Sugar Creek area, near where a transformer reportedly caught fire. In west Charlotte, part of Toddville Road was blocked for a time as crews worked to repair the outage. Debris could be seen in the roadway.

Created: January 26, 2021 12:21 PM ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) It s actually starting to look like winter in Rochester, as the snow began to steadily fall and pile up Tuesday morning. While the storm is not major, the First Alert Weather Team issued a Yellow Alert, as the snow will continue to make for slippery travel at times Tuesday afternoon and during the evening commute, especially if a little sleet and freezing rain mix in. Our Samantha LaRocca reported difficult driving conditions as plow crews work to clear the snow. News10NBC The snow forecast is being lowered just a tad, as there will be a break in the flakes for a bit, with additional snowfall Tuesday night as some lake effect develops after the system moves by.
